FORD RECALLS OVER 550,000 UNITS IN NORTH AMERICA

Fusion and Escape Series Affected

Recalls are often made when a brand discovers a flaw in the quality or mechanics of certain products and for the Ford Brand; this is a most convenient way to avert future problems. With so much on the table, the Ford brand has issued a recall for over 550,000 units of vehicles manufactured and distributed between the years 2013-2016. This, undoubtedly, would lead to a scuffle in vehicular shipments and transportation but the free upgrades and replacements would be worth it.

The recall includes 504,182 vehicle units in the USA, 36,887 Canadian units, and 8,332 from Mexico. These regions are the distribution points for newly manufactured units. Ford has stated that the brand would replace the vehicle shifter cable bushing at absolutely no cost to the customer.

The ford brand is known for high safety standards and continuous product testing and analysis continue even after product distribution which often times lead to new discoveries of possible weaknesses. Ford has stated that the bushing which attaches the cable shifter to transmission may not be as firmly secure as should be. Ford further explained that the recall was crucial as degraded shifter cables may likely detach from it transmission system and this would cause the gear to shift into positions that is different from the one selected by the vehicle driver. This glitch can cause major accidents as the gear is likely to shuffle between positions randomly. This increases the risk of a fatal crash.
